I’m a reader. I read for at least half an hour before bed. During that
time the rest of my family falls asleep. My husband never complains
that I have a lamp on, so it would be unseemly of me to complain that

Summer is so much more than a season; it’s an attitude. It’s the
complete opposite of the blackberry/cell phone/email/instant
message/networking/making dinner frenzy that most of us spend our
day in. Summer has a spirit. A spirit that can be swept away by trends
and busyness.
In the summer we should be drinking pink lemonade or grape Kool-
Aid (preferably purchased from a five year old for a dime and served in
a Dixie cup) not Passion Fruit Mango Kiwi blend infused with calcium,
Omega-3 and the essence of pomegranate. Read More
The dishwasher broke. My husband, the kids and I have been washing
the dishes by hand. None of us want to do this, the loads are done
quickly and impatiently. Apparently we’re awfully busy people. Read More
According to my mother, my generation has it easy. She's
referring to bread machines, microwave ovens, cell phones,
internet-banking....the list is endless. But I can stop her cold with
two words; school lunches.
When I was a kid she made me a peanut butter and
strawberry jam sandwich. On white bread. And tossed it in a
brown paper bag with an apple. That was it. Simple simple times.
